The book “War in Ukraine: Consequences for Poland and Spain” is the sixth volume of a valuable and unique series of Polish-Spanish collective publications published by the Schedas publishing house, directed by Małgorzata Mizerska-Wrotkowska and José Luis Orella Martínez. Several of these publications have had a marked historical tendency (although referring to recent history), while a few have been linked to current events and have mainly contained texts of a political analysis nature. On this occasion, the authors of the series dealt with a very relevant topic: the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war in Poland and Spain, but also in Europe and the world. (…) It is a valuable publication which, especially from the perspective of political science, seriously complements our knowledge of the effects of the most serious armed conflict since the end of the Second World War on the situation of two important Member States of the European Union, located at opposite ends of the Old Continent.

The issue of the Eastern and Southern borders is one of the extraordinary challenges that the European Union has been facing since the successive enlargements of the EU to the South and East, which at the present time has reached a superlative importance that the current European Commission will have to face after the elections to the European Parliament in 2024 and during the next five years. This sixth volume of a series on “Poland and Spain: Yesterday and Today” (…) deals with this extraordinary challenge on the Eastern border with Poland as a key player in the EU. It addresses in an outstanding way the fundamental aspects that affect Poland - among others, from energy to agriculture, passing through humanitarian aspects and the forced exodus of refugees that has put all EU countries under tension - and how the resolution of this issue can affect the other EU countries, starting with Spain, located exactly on the southern border of the EU.
